I inherited a 1903-a3 from my grandpa, and have been doing some research on the weapons. I have found the meaning for most of the markings on it, but there are some letters on it that appear to have been branded onto the wood butt-stock on the left side of the weapon. I was wondering if anyone here knows what they might mean. The brandings that I can make out are: FJA surrounded by a square, and then a circle with a X in the middle. There are the letters RA branded as well, but I am assuming that those are for Remington Arms. Thanks in advance for any help.

M1903 Springfield serial number stock cartouche list There's lots of very nice pictures of the stamps used to make the cartouches. FJA is about three quarters of the way down. The text explains when they began marking the stocks with RA.
