Hello all,

I picked up a 1903 Sporter today for $150. It is set up with scope rails and Monte Carlo stock. It is sn 175xxx.

I have heard that low sn's are not safe to shoot. Is this true?

I have only test fired one round so far. Any thoughts?

There are two arsenals that had issues with the heat treated receiver, Springfield and Rock Island, Springfield with SN under 800,000 and RIA with SN under 286,000..........both of which your SN falls under. if it was me I wouldn't shoot it.
