I'm Not Sure...

I have been a .44 Special fan for over 40 years....just curious what everyones
favorite "working load" is.
Mine is usually 240gr. SWC with 6.8gr of AA#5
...what "working load" means but, if my memory is correct, my 240 gr. cast-bullets, loaded over 6.6 gr. of AA5, clocked around 850 fps and, out of a four-inch S&W 624 were a "shoot all day" load, similar to shooting a 158 gr. .38 Special load, at the same velocity, out of a K-frame revolver.

When I walk in the woods, during bear season, I opt for a four-inch 629, with 300 gr. bullets that are loaded in Magnum cases, around 950 fps.

My Current Load...

Thanks, SP.....I also like the 300gr.....in the boonies...but I use my
Super Blackhawk for that one....usually AA#9.....
...is 12.3 gr. of AA7. It's not fun to shoot and, when I get the chance to clock it, may revise it downward slightly.

Arizona's black bears are relatively small and, if forced to shoot one, it would be at fairly close range.

Now, back to the "regularly scheduled" .44 Special discussion...
