Ok, here's a little article to tweak all the evil right-wingers east of Anchorage. Pat Cunningham, the author, rehashes the old "collective" rights argument, AKA, only the "organized militia" has the right to own firearms.

Kuddoes to whoever finds out how to leave a reply on that site!

EDIT: something is funky with that url. I cannot get it to go directly to the story, but to a page that lists a number of links found from a search, which has it on top. I've corrected the link a few times and only made the problem worse, so I'll leave it as is. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I always try to imagine that the framers stopped in the middle of drafting the Bill of Rights, the premier testament to human rights in the history of mankind, and said,

"Wait a minute...maybe we should make it clear that the military can have weapons."

No, what they did was say, "Now, everywhere else we say 'the people' we mean 'the people,' but here in Amendment 2, when we say 'the people' we mean 'the National Guard.' In a century or so when the National Guard actually exists, everyone will know exactly what we really meant here."
