My boss has a varmint problem.

He wants to borrow my suppressed 10-22.

Not happening, federal prisons being what they are.

I'd like a recommendation on a good air powered varmint removal device.

Thanks in advance.

WaltGraham,

May i suggest a crossbow. = deadly, QUIET, accurate out to 50+M and cheap to buy.

target arrows work WELL as practice for deer season and as efficient collectors of bunnies and squirrels for the supper table.
(cottontails are VERY numerous and great fun to sharpen your crossbows skills upon. They also taste GREAT when simply dipped in milk, salt/pepper, flour and pan-fried with cream gravy, fried potatos and biscuits.)

yours, sw

I have a better idea.

A 24" barrelled .22LR with CCI CB Longs makes less noise than most air rifles, and has a bit more killing power on varmints (slightly longer range).

If he can get close, CB caps from a .22 will work. I've used them to some good effect when I lived in town. Really much like a .22 caliber air rifle and just as quiet or quieter.

.22 with CB's are great. Long barrel sounds like a kids cap gun. Cap gun? Do they still make/sell them?
Sarge, don't know if your question was rhetorical, but they do make cap guns after a fashion. They don't use paper caps, but take either strips or circles of round plastic caps.

Shame, too. You could almost always afford paper caps when I was a kid. And smashing partial or whole rolls with a brick or setting a roll on fire was great fun.

Walt, you're getting much better advice from the other guys then you could get from me. Never got into airguns much myself. I have heard of the brand Charlie mentioned (Gamo), but haven't ever played with any.

The most cost effective solution is to borrow Walt.

Second choice is theCB and everyone is right about the noise. Downside is you need a gun that is kept for that purpose since the zero is very different.

A good air rifle can cost upwards of $200... Walt you're it :D

What kind of varmints are we talking about?

And what will be the typical range?
