Apparently the regime is moving ahead with its plan to ban M855 5.56 ammo due to its "armor piercing" capabilities.

And I could have sworn I just heard Walt Rauch on Rush Limbaugh holding forth on same.

Yes, Rush is talking about this today. Was that really Walt?
I heard him say the name but I've only spoken to Uncle Walt once in person so I wasn't sure about the voice.

Two points:
  1. M855 does not meet ATF's own definition for armor piercing ammo.
  2. The Heller decision makes the entire sporting purposes test moot.

Tim Burke; All,

AGREED 100%.

One of the first things, shortly after 20JAN17, that NEEDS doing is FIRING (or abolishing the position of) every single "policy person" at BATFE, HHS, DOE, Homeland Security, OSHA as well as every other "policy person" who collaborated with the misadministration of BHO & his crooked henchmen.

NO matter how much the leftist press howls, ALL of them must go.

just my OPINION, sw

One counterpoint:

*King Hussein doesn't care. He'll do whatever he wants.

The late King Hussein of Jordan was a decent guy by all accounts. Perhaps pick a new name or add "of the Potomac" to differentiate.

It's possible that this is just our stick boy POOTUS trolling us in order to elicit a reaction.

A reaction that will make certain "measures" necessary.

I'm more concerned about the FCC's taking control of the interwebs.

If M855 is AP, then why does the US Army have M995?
 Doesn't this have something to do with banning "handgun ammo" that is, uh, "armor piercing?" M855 does have that "pentrator insert" (which sounds "sorta" AP if not pornographic [but I shan't go there]) which I know does not make it AP. I believe the BATFE boobs are hanging their hat on an old, innacurate description, that has to do with pistols, and the fact that some companies are now making AR style pistols (as well as the Sig 556 pistol) may be what is prompting this unConstitutional nuttery.

I know he doesn't care, but he is sworn to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution, as is everyone else in the Executive branch.
He/they don't care about any of THAT, either. "Constitution? We don't need no steenkeeng constitution."

That's how I understand it Tommy. If I had a conspiratorial bent, I'd think that they designated those AR pistols with the short arm brace "stocks" as handguns just so they could sneak this in.

Not that the government would ever do a thing like that...

Hey, what about those BFR's that fire .44-70's. Wonder if they'd penetrate soft body armor at pistol ranges?

Yeah, I thought they'd try this about 25 years ago, but I knew we'd cross this bridge at some point. The core is to improve penetration, but it doesn't make it AP...they have an AP round.
