Facing a $36 billion deficit, California Assemblyman Paul Koretz (D-West Hollywood) has proposed a 10-cents a round ammunition tax (AB-602) to fund emergency rooms and trauma care centers. Last session, State Senator Don Perata (D-Oakland) introduce a 5-cent per bullet tax which died in committee. Attempts to move the proposal along as a ballot initiative also failed. To voice your opposition to the bill, contact Koretz's Capitol office at (916) 319-2042 or his district office at (310) 652-4242 or by e-mail at [email protected].
