I was talking to a guy I know today who Hams (Callsign available upon request) and he said Ukrainian and Russian HAM guys were talking. Anyone else out there HAM and hearing what they're buzzing about?

I was just asking because the internet stuff has been coming and going, and the Crimea media stuff is basically all Russian. Russian media is heavily controlled, and no one in the "mainstream media" is talking about HAM traffic. Maybe they're putting out different stuff.

I hold a General ticket but I've never used the HF privileges and probably spend less than 30 minutes a week on 2 meters these days. However, a friend is getting ready to swap me an NVIS antenna - more suitable for HF emergency communication than my unused (by me) 5HBTV - and set up a more reliable 2-meter repeater system for use in the very mountainous terrain around here than what we've got available now. When he does, I may start carrying my handheld unit on walks.
