Daily Mail (UK): Man arrested over Long Island pharmacy massacre 'stole drugs to feed wife's heroin addiction'
The wife of a man grabbed by police in connection with the Long Island pharmacy massacre had a prescription pain killer addiction, according to a friend.

Unemployed army veteran David Laffer, 33, was arrested by Suffolk County police at his Medford home while his wife Melinda, 29, was also taken into custody early this morning.
Note how the MSM tars army veterans with this story. So far as I can tell the suspects previous military service has no bearing on this story.

Fox News: Arrest Made in New York Pharmacy Murders
The man suspected of gunning down four people in a pharmacy on New York's Long Island has been arrested, Fox News has confirmed.
Down to the fourth paragraph in the story ...
Laffer reportedly has a military background and no prior criminal record. Police also arrested Laffer's wife Melinda, 29, from the same home.
Fox News mentions a military background but avoids taring members of the service with the "killer brush."

New York Post: Cops arrest suspect in Long Island drug store killings
Following a three-day manhunt, an unemployed Army veteran was arrested today for allegedly killing four people at a Long Island pharmacy, and later identified as the shooter by a witness in a police lineup, authorities said.

David Laffer, 33, was arrested by Suffolk County police at about 10 a.m. at his Medford home.

Shortly after Laffer's arrest, his wife Melinda Brady, 29, was also taken into custody, cuffed and placed in another car.
These asshats worked that tidbit into the first sentence. It is as if the style book instructs these prats to write copy portraying military vets as vicious killers at every opportunity.

New York Daily News: Police arrest David Laffer in quadruple murder at L.I. pharmacy; wife's pill habit may be motive
An unemployed Army veteran was arrested Wednesday in the cold-blooded massacre of four people during a Long Island pharmacy robbery, an official said.

Laid-off shipping clerk David Laffer and wife Melinda Brady were hauled from their Medford, L.I., home by heavily armed officers from the Suffolk County Police.

This is nothing new.
After WWII "Willy and Joe" cartoonist Bill Mauldin wrote that a vet would get drunk and throw a beer stein into a saloon mirror, and next day the headlines screamed "Crazed combat vet goes berserk, destroys bar".

"Tommy", the poem by Rudyard Kipling, is their anthem, even though most of the media have likely never heard of it.
Look it up; Google wants to be your friend.

Thankfully, most people seem to appreciate and honor veterans nowadays.

"For it's Tommy this and Tommy that, and Tommy how's your soul?
But it's a bloody thin line of heroes when the drums begin to roll."
"An' it's Tommy this and Tommy that,
An' chuck 'im out, the brute!
But it's 'Savior of 'is Country' when the guns begin to shoot!"

This is morphing into a good Independence Day thread; freedom isn't free--honor those who laid it on the line!
