Charlie sent me that Walt, and I find it very on-target. Authoritarian cockpit culture was gradually discouraged in this country starting in the late eighties or early nineties, and the result has been nothing short of remarkable. Back in those days I was never shy about telling a captain he was about to do something stupid, but many first officers were. (Of course, tact goes a long way, and you'd better be right.)
