Police aim for perfect score
By Janice Harris
Wednesday, 25 August 2004

Orange Police had their weapons competency put to the test yesterday near Orange in a combined compulsory training session and coaching for firing under special conditions.

Canobolas Local Area weapons trainer Senior Constable Brenden Turner supervised the testing and training sessions which have to be attended annually by all serving officers.

Officers had to fire 88 rounds from their regulation issue Glock Model 40, 22 calibre pistols with 36 shots scored for a minimum accuracy requirement.
The rest o'the story…

Wonder what happened to the intervening Models 38 and 39?

Weren't those the new .380 GAP and .32 GAP guns? 28 shots in a super-thin 1.8" wide package. Any color you wanted as long as it was GLOCKBlack.

Well, since I know the difference between a magazine and a clip, and I don't like Kool Aid, I sort'a figured I'd be okay here.

Ed, I'm guessing the reporter who wrote the story was trying to say "Glock 22 in .40 caliber" and got her digits transposed.

Hence my wise-crack to Dean about the Model 38 in .25 cal ( G25 = .380 cal )

But I could be wrong, and things might be more topsy-turvy "down under" than I ever imagined.

Well you know with their gun control laws in effect the officers shouldn't need anything more powerful than a .22 for dispatching the occasional rabid dog, etc.,...
So Ed.... Are you trying to tell us that you think a .22LR Glock would be perfect for poppin' dingos and 'roos? :p

J.C.

BTW... If you think the Aussie gun laws are ridiculous, you should see the legislation they just tried to ram through concerning swords and machetes.

Seems their government is terrified of the stainless steel wall hangers you can pick up at the local flea market...
