Just got back from a gun show where I saw my first Auto-Ord repro M1A1 carbine. Very disappointing.

The pistol grip is too far to the rear. There is a gap of 1/4" or more between the trigger guard and the pistol grip. On my real M1A1 stock, the pistol grip comes right up to the trigger guard and maybe even overlaps the rear of the guard.

Moving the pistol grip rearward alters the whole geometry of the folding stock. Instead of having a "drop" similar to that of a wooden-stocked carbine, the upper wire of the repro stock is parallel to the barrel!

The pics on the Auto-Ord website show this, a little. But the one I saw had much more gap between the grip and the trigger guard, and the stock was exactly parallel to the barrel.
