Anyone know what this is? It looks like what the Saiga is to the AK series, for the AR-15 or M-16 type of rifle.

It would have to be late 1980s at the latest, as far as make.

It is seen in the later part of this Youtube clip. If you move the play bar pipper to 5:36 you'll see the side profile from when the main character police man really goes to town with it. Anyone seen a beastie like this?

Yeah, I remember reading about that gun back in the '80s. Don't remember the name or any particulars at the moment.

LA Takedown was an amazing movie in its day. Made for TV, only shown once. Sort of the "prototype" for Heat. Very cool stuff.

maybe an ACHISSON 12( spelling) i remember seeing one once- it's like an m16, but in 12 bore and was sielded for seals amongst other things- come to think of it, we sure had a LOT of oddball things fielded back then

It doesn't look like the AA12, nor the USAS12.

Its an old stoner .308 rifle , notice the give away charging handle on the top of the receiver, then heavily Hollywood modified .

casual, I agree with you about the L.A. Takedown gun probably being a prop, it doesn't look like an AA-12 or anything else I ran down.

Looks like it is out of production but was similar in capability to the Saiga-12. The late 1980s were a funky time for guns.
