I just bought a Imperial M4 bayonet which shows to be a alternate first issue with leather handle and plastic spacers. It came in a B.M. Co. first variation U.S. M8A1 scabbard that has a raised # 13 with a line over top and under bottem. It is on the front flat area and is about 1 inch tall. What does the 13 stand for? I have seen a few others for sale that had the same markings. Just curious and thanks.

OK I know I asked for a couple more pictures, but this is what it looks like. It appears that your number 13 was at one time a rack number. It was probably applied in white paint. At some point later the scabbard body was repainted OD, giving the appearance of a raised 13.
