... are lawyering up.

At least four career officials at the State Department and the Central Intelligence Agency have retained lawyers or are in the process of doing so, as they prepare to provide sensitive information about the Benghazi attacks to Congress, Fox News has learned.

Victoria Toensing, a former Justice Department official and Republican counsel to the Senate Intelligence Committee, is now representing one of the State Department employees. She told Fox News her client and some of the others, who consider themselves whistle-blowers, have been threatened by unnamed Obama administration officials.

"I'm not talking generally, I'm talking specifically about Benghazi - that people have been threatened," Toensing said in an interview Monday. "And not just the State Department. People have been threatened at the CIA."

You expected something different from these people?
They'll protect Obama, Hillary, and the administration at ALL costs, and breaking the law is no big deal because they see themselves AS the law.

Meanwhile, Border Patrolmen have been ordered to break the law, and threatened if they refuse to do so or talk to anyone about it.

To be clear, US Government agents and officials are being threatened with punishment if they talk to the US Congress, and to Hell with the whistle blower laws and the Constitutional mandate that the Congress has the power of oversight.

I don't expect a lot.
First, the Dims will run interference as much as possible in the hearings.
Second, the press will ignore it if at all possible, unless they smell blood and just can't ignore the whole thing.

Last, there's the impossible to resist impulse of Politicians, including GOP to NOT grand stand and spend their 5 minutes making self-important speeches.
After 4 1/2 minutes of blowing their own horns they ask one question and get a partial, evasive answer.

The worst nightmare of the Dims would have been if the GOP had agreed to allow ONE member to do all the questioning so he could absolutely pin people down.

The most sickening thing about it is the absolute firestorm the press would have staged long ago if the President and Secretary of State were Republicans.

dfariswheel,

EXACTLY so. = That's why I favor a "citizen's congress"with NO person allowed to serve more than 8 years in DC in any elected and/or appointed office (YES, including judges!), with NO pensions, NO "fringe benefits", their salaries & expenses set by their constitutients and then the members would have to return home to be a ordinary citizen.

I seem to remember that a lot of senior military officers in that area had personal dirt come out on them soon after Benghazi and their careers were destroyed.

They have right to be worried.

think the Dems started down this path with the Clintons. They were so eager to get the WH back they tied themselves to the Clintons and their methods and that has been their model ever since. Of course, the Secretary of State through the whole Benghazi situation was....

I have long thought that prohibiting any elected official from running for any elected office until after the term they were elected to has lapsed would be a way to deal with the entrenchment of the political class. They were elected to represent their constituents, not to run for re-election. We could call it the "Get a Job" amendment.

Seven Things We Learned from the Benghazi Whistleblower Hearing
... the State Department's commander on the scene, (Greg) Hicks, ordered his personnel into Benghazi and went there himself. Hicks testified that (Lt. Col) Gibson never told him who issued the stand-down orders. He commented that Gibson told him that the military stand-down was a shock: "This is the first time in my career that a diplomat has more balls than someone in the military."

A good friend of mine called me up the other day excited over the prospect that this would lead to impeachment, and removal from office. He thinks that this scandal is so significant that even the media has to cover it, and that the events are so damaging even the Dem senators would have to vote the President out. He also thinks that the witnesses are so sterling in their character that it would be impossible to smear them.

Sadly, I couldn't share his enthusiasm. The witnesses could be nuns, and the drive-by media will find a way to tarnish their characters, and that all it would take is to find one sin in only one of their backgrounds to paint the whole lot as unreliable.* I also think that it even if it came out that the wildest conspiracy theories proved true, and Obama not only personally issued the stand down orders, but also personally coordinated the attack with terrorists it still wouldn't lead to his removal from office unless Republicans had a seventy-five seat majority in the senate.

*Interestingly, I didn't see the angle of "Fox asked for interviews with them, so they are are liars" angle coming. I knew they'd impugn the story itself that way, but not the witnesses.

If they couldn't remove Clinton from office for lying under oath they're certainly not going to remove O from office for lying outside of oath.
I agree with your friend about the seriousness of the matter .... but politics has become more important than honor, or truth.

Solomon, not just nuns--they could all be Mother Teresa and the SCUM would find a way to spin and paint them as "in retrospect, made that Austrian and that Georgian with the funny mustaches not seem like such bad guys after all."

NOTHING is beneath these people... their mindset is firmly locked into "Uns Uber Alles".

Folks other than FOX are starting to take an interest re the ever changing talking points.

Andrea Mitchell actually looked angry at being lied to tonight.

I mean, we pretty much know what happened here.

Zero (or his handlers) didn't want the inconvenient optics of a successful terrorist attack splashed across the media during an election campaign so they fabricated the video BS.

That's reprehensible, but the real cowardly dooshbaggery is standing down any effort at rescue and, of course, cutting the ambassador's security.

And all In the name of political expediency.

Persistence and subpoena power will bring it all into the light eventually...

The families of the fallen deserve to have the liars and cowards named if nothing else...

I'll be intrigued to see if the gunrunning story surfaces.

An absolutely damning editorial today said that Obama and Hillary literally stood over the Flag draped bodies of dead Americas and lied.

Also damning is that they had an innocent man arrested and he's still in jail for making a video no one ever saw.
True enough he's a shady character, but in this case he's innocent but still in jail.
Whatever happened to the Press and their vigorous defense of the First Amendment?

IIRC he's in for bank fraud. He's not "innocent" unless you mean "presumed innocent until proven guilty in court."
The charges against him have nothing to do with the YOUTUBE video, but I agree it is very ... "convenient" that he remains in jail and was ostensibly a swindler.
We need to be very careful how we characterize this situation -- claiming more than what is obvious on the face may wind up back-firing on us ("us" being conservatives & republicans and I refere to people here on this forum as well as those in government as well as media pundits and newspaper editorialists).
There is no intrinsic crime, really. The President is CinC and it's his call to "send in the marines" or issue recall orders.
What lies at the heart of this is a fantasamagorically POOR judgement call -- made by more than one person. Hillary for calling back security which was needed, the state dept dweebs + Hillary + Obama + his dweebs for ever refering to it as a "protest that got out of hand" inspired by an evil "youtube" video. Those are lies perpetrated by several highly placed dweebs.
Former Governor Mike Huckabee has also bitten off more than he could chew on his Fox News show in claiming that Obama will be unable to complete his term.
I have dealt with this in a prior post in this thread;
If they couldn't remove Clinton from office for lying under oath they're certainly not going to remove O from office for lying outside of oath.
The lamestream media will circle their wagons around Obama and never build it up the way they went after Nixon in Watergate, Reagan during Iran/Contra or Shrubbie the Younger throughout his reign.

And us exaggerating and making false claims will not change that.

If I recall correctly, the maker of that video was arrested for a Parole Violation. He had used the internet to commit the crime(s) he was convicted for, and was, as part of his parole, forbidden to own or use a computer of any type.

Since he posted that video on YouTube, they popped him on that.

The question is, did marching orders come down from on high to arrest this ass hat for something...anything...and do it quick? We'll probably never know.

I see more and more of the MSM actually covering this story. That certainly is a plus considering the last 5 years of "Move along...Nothing to see here". But I agree with Tommy. It's not going to be anywhere near the intensity of the onslaught felt by Nixon, Reagan, et al.
