Friends,

I just got an Email from an "old army compatriot" (a W-5 US Army aviator), who retired in the EU.

He told me while ago in an email that he has "won at auction" a heavily engraved (& decorated with 18K GOLD), CAPEGUN that is a 12.75x74Flanged on the L & a 8gauge shotgun on the R. Erik says that it weighs about 16 pounds.

A 12.7x74 Flanged would be about what our old BIG 110 Sharps would measure, though LIKELY loaded with a case-full of cordite.
(I wonder if 12.7x74Flanged IS the metric designation for .50-110 Sharps??)
He said that the 8gage side is bored for 4" shells.

Anybody besides me figure that that BEAST would kick like a Missouri mule?
(The longer that I've thought about it, the LESS FUN that shooting it sounds.)

yours, sw

shep854,

When he actually has the Cape-Gun "in hand", I'll ask him to post photos of it, with something like a yardstick for "scale". - fwiw, that is a BIG beast of a gun.
(The only similar 8 gauge Cape that I've ever seen had 34" barrels & weighed about 20 pounds.)
