0-16

What, do you doubt me? Hey, I've been a Jets fan for 39 years, and I'm telling you, it's the safest, most mentally healthy prediction we can make. We're taxpayers, we're your next door neighbor, the guy who makes your sandwich in the deli, the lady who gets your cappuccino on the way to the subway, the guy who types and edits your legal documents (like me!!!), the girl who delivers your mail, the cop on the beat, we're all around you.

We have children, jobs, feelings, thoughts, likes and dislikes, and, and, . . .

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I TELL YOU, JESUS WILL RETURN BEFORE WE MAKE IT INTO ANOTHER SUPER BOWL, NO, NOT WIN, JUST MAKE IT IN TO ANOTHER SUPER BOWL, YES JESUS WILL RETURN BEFORE THAT!!!

So, in the meantime, if you see a Jets fan on the street, don't call the men in white coats, just give him or her a smile and say it's not that bad, there's still some things worth living for. Sound upbeat, show some sincere encouragement.

After all, these ARE the last days. :D

One Mo Tahm, . . .

for effect.

0-16

AAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH, . . .

THUMP!!!!!

Bloofy,

I feel your pain. I have been a Cincinnati Bengal fan since the fateful day in 1968 that they played their first game in Morgantown WV (Exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Steelers). The Bengals won that game, and I became a diehard Bengals fan (and, yes, I have died hard many many many years...)
On my bookcase downstairs, I have the last ball in play from that game. They did not have a ballboy and my dad volunteered. After the game, the equipment manager gave my father the two balls he had worked the game with.
Even though Cincinnati is over 5 hours away from where I live in WV, I own halvies on 2 personal seat lic. for Paul Brown Stadium and can get our seats for any game I choose. Because of my family situation, I have not been able to get to a game in almost 3 years.

Who-dey think de gonna beat dem Bengals, Who-dey, Who-dey!!

Careful, Careful Bloofy ---

Remember, you collect cigars, and I collect guns and ammo. There are certain things you don't insult on a guy you don't know well --- and "their team" is near the top! I would have about 8 hours driving time to load as many guns as my SUV would haul. I doubt you would be that hard to find in Dutchess County NY!!

Oops, I think someone let the tiger out of the barn! Or I've got a tiger by the tail, . . .

or something like that.

Gotta hide. That fierce man from the town that Jerry Springer was mayor of is coming to get me.

C'mon, Bloof. You're no real Jets fan if you predict 0-16. Any real Jets fan -- and I bleed green -- will tell you that if the Jets follow form, they will raise the hopes of the fans by being just good enough to be interesting (even making a run for the playoffs), just to dash our hopes and return us to sticking pins in our old Leon Hess dolls.

I see you know the Jets all too well. That's why I feel more mentally healthy predicting 0-16. That way I don't become a mental patient when they make it to the second round of the playoffs, and with the score 16-10 against them and the Jets driving, 0:37 left in regulation, they lose on an interception thrown into the end zone, and off the receiver's fingertips, just missing the winning touchdown.

Bloofy--

I have NEVER lived in Cincinnati --- I live in STEELER country about 75 miles south of Pittsburgh PA. When I was a child, the "SQUEELERS" were terrible. They did not win their first Super Bowl until I was 13, and I HATED them badly by then.

Yes, but you are coming to avenge the balls of the Bungles, and therefore, coming in the name of Jerry Springer. Come to think of it, Jerry Springer's come in some pretty---------, . . .

NEVER MIND BLOOF, THIS IS A FAMILY CHANNEL!!! NONE OF THAT AROUND HERE!!!

Oh well, I was just making the point that I need to run and hide, and seeing that my shift is over, . . .

FEET DON'T FAIL ME NOW!!! :pigsfly:

You want to talk about punishment? My wife is a Raiders fan.

Rob,

--- Heck, my wife is a BILLS fan. --- Buffalo, where they changed the area code to 0-4-4

If I had to rate teams by my likes/dislikes from 1-32 Cincinnati would be #1, Pittsburgh is #32 and the Raiders and Jets would be in my top 10.

Youse guys think youse got it bad? I'm 20 minutes from the city of brotherly love and have grown up bleeding a different shade of green. And like Rob says, the Eagles can give you that Philly, Smarty Jones hope that they actually have a chance... almost every year.... choke, choke, choke... (Those Packers fans are still dreaming "4th and 26" though!

As for my second and third favorite teams, it is the Cowboys and Raiders. Back in the Mesozoic Period, when I was a lad, there was this thing called the NFL, and another thing called the AFL. The Jets and Raiders were my favorite AFL teams and the Cowboys were my favorite NFL team.

It's been Slim Pickens all around for a while.

Not to mention that my Johnny Paychecks have been pretty short for the past couple of months, too.

I've been a Jets fan for 39 years
Newcomer!

Missed the days of "Wahoo McDaniel," eh?

I have, for 53 years, been a Lions' fan… my formative football (and hockey) years were spent in Detroit when the Lions (and Red Wings) were the class of the 12 team (and six team) professional leagues. I still get nostalgic at thoughts of Joe Schmitt and Bobby Layne, Doak Walker, Chris Christiansen, et al.

It's been a long time since '57, when the Lions (or as m'cousin Charlie calls'em, the "Pussycats") annihilated the other class of the NFL, the mighty Browns of Cleveland and Paul Brown, 57-14.

By then I'd moved back to Noo Yawk and when that fatuous clown Harry Wismer somehow scraped up enough money to buy an AFL franchise for the city, I started following the Titans with their Al Dorrow-to-Don Maynard, fling the ball all over the Polo Grounds style.

By the time they moved to Shea Stadium, adopted the name "Jets" and brought in Joe Willie Whiteshoes… all the local Jints fans were furious at Hess for the reported $427k he'd paid Namath, accusing ol' Leon of "ruining the game!," I was a serious fan.

Not that I'd abandoned the Lions who were and always will be #1, but it was a matter of propinquity for me and the Jets.

Item: In 1968, I was one of four (4! count'em, 4!) locals who bet the Jets, in a series of weird bets (the line was 17-18 points, and even most the die-hard Jints' fans, NFL chauvinists, were hincky at giving that many points) ranging from a graduated five points a quarter even money (meaning the Baltimores had to cover, respectively, five, 10, 15 and then 20 points) to 10 points at 3½-to-1, to straight up at 7½-to-one. None of the NFLers, who all hated Joe Willie for taking that $427k and thereby further "ruining the game," all felt that the Green Bays would be two touchdown favorites against Red China, and if the Baltimores had beaten Lombardi's team, then they were a lock to dismantle the Jets and send Namath back to Beaver Falls in a body bag.

I was flush for months!

So, yes, I root for the Jets 'ceptin' when they play the Detroits… and they are an ill-fated team, it seems. And if Testaverde actually does start, and win, for Parcels this season, and Pennington doesn't regain his form from two years ago… m'cousin Charlie, taking a page from the Alex Karras manual, distrusts any quarterback with the given name like Chadwick the way the great Lions defensive tackle hated the idea of playing for a QB with the given name of Milton (as in Plum)… it'll be a grim Fall in lower NY.

Now, can anyone other than Rob tell us why the Jets' team colors are green and white?
