I have a question about the old style .30 cal ammo cans. The ones that are marked, "caliber .30M1 Ammunition Box" . Does that mean M1
Garand or M1 Ammunition, prior to M2 ball. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

i think it means that it is an M1 box. IIRC the current ammo cans are M19A1. in WWII lots of things were M1. including the M1 helmet.

Or the M1 carbine or the M1 bayonet.

They might have ben the greatest generation but they had a suprising lack of imagination.
