One ecological disaster coming up as Cali responds in a typical green, environmentally and expensive fashion...

To All,

IF the people of CA had any BRAINS, they would tell their immigrants from Latin America & Asia that they can shoot/eat all that they want.

Nutria is GOOD when BBQ'd. - I ate a lot of it when we lived in LA.

The same TACTIC would work in FL for invasive pythons & boas, as many Asian groups eat them as a normal portion of their diet "back home".
(When that was suggested in FL, the IDIOTS of PETA complained & the FL government changed their mind.)

Addenda: Had the government morons listened to those of us who suggested that the large Asian immigrant population be encouraged to hunt the "big snakes", there wouldn't be the problem that we have in FL wetlands in 2018.
(The same thing is true of invasive pigeons. = Several Asian groups, in one suburban area where I was once stationed, hunted them with air-rifles/XBs & the problem soon was a LOT less of a problem.)

yours, sw

Sadly, the Cali zombies have the clout. The non-brain-dead are hanging on for dear life...

WE have a lot of those critters around here. I had one living under my deck for awhile. I don't know where he came from we are some distance from any water. He did keep the grass neatly trimmed. Here it is.

Javlin,

Fwiw, Nutria are plant-eaters, clean (especially when compared to chickens, turkeys & other barnyard fowl) & quite good.

For those of us , who have spent a lot of time OCONUS, "protein is protein" & mammals/birds that taste good are generally fine to eat.

This is genius. I could see that being massive. Plus, your "players" don't even have to be in the state, or even in the country. They can work all hours, too. Just give the Crocodile thermographic or low light vision sensors for nights, adverse weather or haze.
