Anyone have experience with a Caspian titanium 1911 frame? Pros & cons of using them to build a custom pistol would be appreciated.

Actually I do and am more than a little fond of it
Charlie wasn't it you that posted some pics of a beautiful Caspian on the Prodigy board a little while before the end? Was that your gun or one you were doing a T&E on?

Ed
That's it.

It began as a T&E but after fondling it for about 30 seconds I sent a check.... it is mine... mine I say... all mine! :D
:p :p :p

I heard that!

It's a very nice piece... shoots very well, and gorgeous.
Let me know when you get bored with it.
That'll be right after...

:pigsfly:
And right before... wait a minute! We don't have a graphic for hell freezing over?
Fernando? That sounds like a great idea...
Hmmm... I like that. Let me see if I can find one. :D
Specifics on Titanium 1911 frames

This has been real snappy chat, guys; but I'm looking for specific pros & cons on Ti frames. What about durability/longevity compared to steel? How about gauling problems when mated to carbon steel slides, etc?
Have you tried the 1911 Forum?

They have a section dedicated to Caspian.

There is a thread concerning working with the Caspian Ti Frame:

Ya mean this one?

Sweet

Yeah that's the one!
Think about those questions...

since Titanium frames are quite new how would anyone know about longevity?

Galling is a potential problem with any two sliding surfaces but if it happens it is because somebody got it too tight.
