Thanks for that link, Cap'n. I'd heard some of the statements Krauthammer had made elsewhere, but had never read that column befire, and had not realized it was from 1996. I'd assumed wrongly it was from before his conversion. Possibly the attitude he expressed was an artifact from his liberal daze from two decades earlier.
In any case, what he wants is not possible. He postulates as a necessary precursor, crime must be tamed so people will be more receptive.
That isn't going to happen.
It really doesn't alter my opinion or feelings toward Dr. Krauthammer; as I said, I was previously aware of some of the statements he'd made in that column. I'd also disagreed with other statements -- I thought he was wrong about Trump, even though I myself view the President as a flawed personality, I support him, as I've always tended to view political leaders in context with their kindred; ie., if we hadn't gotten Trump, then who would we have in office?
