The following was just sent to CNN.com:
CNN is still lying about the "assault weapons" issue. The current QUICKVOTE poll reads:

Should the federal ban on assault weapons be...

• Lifted
• Extended.

There is no "lifted." It will organically expire by its own provisions on 13 September 2004.

Why is it so hard for CNN to be honest about firearms?

Survey says...

As reported in GunWeek, a 6 month survey of 28,400 Americans shows a majority support extending the ban.

71% of non gun owners favored an extension, and even 64% of gun owners favored extending the ban!?

Among NRA members, 46% favored extending the ban!?

Gotta wonder just who/where they surveyed and what they really asked those folks?

Like in 1994, the duck hunters and the Dansforth Six.

I cannot say that I'm suprised. The news media seldom gets it right when it comes to firearms, and the bias is readily apparent.

Several weeks ago, a Mississippi family was missing and some bullet holes were found inside the home. While interviewing an investigator, a reporter (CNN, I believe) asked if they were 'old' bullet holes, since the father was known to own several guns.
