I'm considering this site now dead with its glory days behind it.

Yep, and he's been invited back, but I get the impression he has other stuff going on in his life...You gotta admit, the joint was livelier when Dean was here, stirring up the crap with a canoe paddle at all times! I miss him.
I wonder if he knows that there have been a couple changes of management since he left?
That trumps me; I was getting ready to brag about my TI-99 and Compuserve...I used an Osborne to access The Cleveland FreeNet via 1200 baud modem.
Ah, the good old days of the Cleveland Freenet. That's something I had spent a lot of time on.Ya gotta remember, people here have LIVES, I know, I know, most of the internet is populated by kids in basements who spend too much time on computers, but here people go to the range and load ammo and associate with other human beings, especially around holiday time.
A few insomniacs like me who rise early eat breakfast over the repeat of O'Reilly and hit the deck a runnin' at 0600 are relatively rare.
Personally, I like the low noise high content ratio around here. There are only a few things left on the Internet I have time for, and this is one of the best for content.

Who has been on the internet for a LONG time in computer years, I used an Osborne to access The Cleveland FreeNet via 1200 baud modem.

Apparently, Dean's web host got hacked. The main page for the TGZ website was finally accessible this morning (individual pages seemed to have remained accessible if you had the specific URL) but the blog was still not operational when I checked.Dean bounced around a couple forums finally settling on a blog of his own design. He has not posted in a long while, so I suspect he may have some health issues but that is just a feeling and nothing confirmed.
On The Beach Blog | Off the record, on the QT in WHB, and very hush-hush…Where's he blogging? I've lost track of him.
