After 27 1/4 years, I pulled the plug. Recent changes to our retirement medical coverage gifted me with maximum assistance at my current length of service (largely due to being an old fart) and staying around longer doesn't mean much on the pension. Doesn't get any easier either. Currently doing terminal leave.

Got a real nice engraved plaque mounted on real wood and the head honcho said some nice things that he probably mostly meant. His predecessor would have delegated that so he could dance a jig in his office.

Real treat tomorrow-studying up for my colonoscopy. Gives me an excuse to ignore the stuff I've been putting off and just started to cope with.

What with more limited access to the web, may be less frequent a guest than when I was trying to stay awake at work.

Well done and congrats.

I'm not far behind you, although the twin facts of my family recently tripling in size and the current regime's incompetence re the economy may put mine off a bit.

Congratulations on your newfound freedom; here's to hoping it doesn't devolve into new-found boredom.
This can be avoided by multiple trips to the firearms range!!!!!!:thumbsup:

As to colonoscopies -- had one and will soon have another. You don't have to "study" for them but there is this liquid **** that you have to drink and ... well, never mind. You'll find out. You have my sympathies.

;)

Aw, don't worry it ain't THAT bad! :D

I going in for my first colonoscopy soon. My biggest worry (after, oh, colon cancer) is that there's no way I'll be able to come up with a joke the doc hasn't heard before.

This is the leading contender so far:

"Doc, after this is all over, would you please tell my wife you didn't find my head up there?"

William M Moore,

Welcome to the ranks of "EOF". = IF you're like me, you'll be busier now than when you were working.

Between our boarding-school 50th reunion, the BEETHOVEN MAENNERCHOR, the NRA Banquet, DU & a half-dozen other "causes", my "dance card" is FULL.

yours, sw

Well, I didn't make a joke. But the Doctor doing the procedure (as I was partially sedated and laying sideways on a table without much on) told me;

"And don't worry. I'll be right behind you the whole time."

My kinda doctor.

"As long as I don't feel BOTH of your hands on my shoulders."

Maybe we should start a break off thread...;)

...and to get back to the subject of this thread. Mr. Moore, I truly hope you enjoy your retirement. Hope you get to do everything you want to do, and nothing you don't want to do.

Unfortunately, medical procedures are the exception. ;)

Many thanks guys. Just so you know, the modern "procedure" includes printouts of scenic views of the trip for your photo album, website or face(?) book. I'll get the official biopsy results later this month, but they told my wife I'll be doing it again in 2020.

The main drain cleaner wasn't at all bad when mixed with GatorAid. The magnesium citrate the next day is another story. They want that to make posalutely absotively sure you're cleaned out.

My pooch is thrilled. It did take me a few days to reprogram him about what time I have to get up.
