Dry-fire a Ruger MKII?

2860 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  SpecialEd
Hello. I just picked up a Ruger MKII. I got the SS model with the 5.5" bull barrel. I don'e see it mentioned in the manual anywhere and there is no place on Ruger's website to send them a question.

Does anyone know if it is ok to dry-fire it? I had a regular MKII 20 years ago in my former shooting life and seem to remember tht it wasn't reccomended.

Thanks,

Ed

Of course you can.... and should. There aren't very many new guns that can't be dry fired.
Most rimfire handguns shouldn't be dryfired without a snap cap in place.

JMHO & YMMV
have you read their instruction manual?
Ooops!

The first time I golssed thorugh the manual I didn't see anythng. Then I went to Ruger's website and brought the manual up as a pdf and did a search for "dry fire" and I found it. The answer is yes as long as the firing pin block is in place.

Thanks for your patience!
