One of my first "high-powered rifles" (I was about 15YO, then.) was a Korean War vintage SMLE, that was from NZ. - Sadly, I have NO clue what those marks indicate.
ImVho, the .303 British is UNDER-appreciated as a deer rifle round. - It is a KILLER with the 220 grain SP or even with CAST BOOLITS.
(The Canadian Rangers have DONE WELL with SMLEs for decades in the Frozen North, even against polar bears, caribou and moose.)
