I came across a cut down carbine in a after market paratrooper stock. I'm not sure what it is. It's FULL auto but it was stamped U.S carbine 30 cal. M1 not M2. I'm not sure on manufactor or the serial number. The manufactor was under the adj. rear sight and it started with a letter "B" and serial number started with "SC". The seller wasn't real sure about it eather.

Any ideas

I'd say that you have an aftermarket conversion of an M1 to M2 specs. I don't believe that any of the IJ, or Universal Carbines, were select-fire. Plainfield DID make some M2 style weapons, though.

It wasn't a big problem to convert an M1 to M2 specs, and kits were available from surplus until well after the '68 GCA. Even up to '86, there were quite a few 'smiths converting them. There are even registered "kits" still out there that can be installed in an M1 to convert it to M2. :D
