Beautiful pics...thanks for sharing Top. Dude had an incredibly fast shutter speed.

You can see many videos of this stuff by going to YouTube and searching for "mach loop". There's one particularly good one taken from the cockpit of a Tornado.

I used to live next door to a shuttle astronaut. One day we were talking about his mission and I mentioned the launch: "That had to be one helluva ride."

"It was", he said, "but not the best ride I've had."

"Really?" I said. "What was the best?"

"1.3 at 50 feet in the back seat of a Tornado."

My parents spent three years living in Scotland during the mid 1980s. Visiting them in 1986, I saw quite a few RAF jet fighters and attack jets doing that kind of flying there.

It's pretty interesting, being on the top of a pretty, grassy hill surrounded by valleys, and watching a mean looking RAF fighter slam by you ....AND YOU ARE LOOKING DOWN ON THE JET.

Occasionally, they'd fly those Panavia Tornados or A-4s ( I think) over my parents' house, rattling everything that wasn't bolted down. That was fun.... :)

One of my most pulse pounding experiences was at an air show at Langley a while back.

Back then you could park a -lot- closer to the action.

An F-15 did a hammerhead directly above us and came back down just the way it went up.

Pucker factor of between 3 and 5.

And Wales is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been in my life.
