2nd season of Falling Skies starts Sunday. By the end of the first season I was SO over it and swore I wouldn't stick around for season two. But I saw a couple commercials for it last night and darned if I don't feel myself being sucked in again. Oh well, not like there's a whole lot else on to watch this summer, unless you like dancing, cooking, or weird dating.

Can't wait for the return of Breaking Bad.

I intend to give it a chance. I atleast want to see what happened to our big hero -- who was taken into the alien spaceship. What was THAT all about?

It's no Walking Dead, Justified or Breaking Bad, that's for sure. But as noted, there ain't much else on, and this might be kinda okay. We'll see.

Hey, that gives me Longmire and Falling Skies to watch on Sunday night! That's almost 80 minutes of entertainment! :eek:mg:

Ok, I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that they've nixed the engine heat of the vehicles but the aliens somehow are blind to their headlights... :)

And they can't see them from the air...

Or space...

Or that their exhaust doesn't show up on infra-red.....

It's a TV show.
I'm not even sure fiberglass would dampen an IR signature, or be good for cooling the engine, which can't get too hot.

What's with that bug-like thing and eyeballs?:dunno:

Watched the first hour, and the first half of the second hour so far.

Some good gun stuff, including M14s and Galils, which you don't often see.

It was not as bad as the lamest episodes of last season, but it's still a long, LONG way from Breaking Bad or Justified, or even Walking Dead. Not as good as Fringe. Maybe about equal with V. Not quite as silly as Sanctuary or Warehouse 13. Not as good as Jericho. Maybe a little better than Terra Nova.

Will Patton (the captain) might be the hammiest actor on TV at the moment. But it looks like several others here might be trying to challenge him for the title.

Most interesting character is Pope.

Walt, Tommy: Yeah, the IR thing with the engines bothered me. I mean, our FLIR's will pick up human body heat. These guys travel through galaxies and can't beat that?

Snake: I liked your breakdown. Loved seeing M-14's and Galils in the mix. Last year, it seemed like it was AR's and AK's, with other folks using hunting rifles and shotguns.

It's nowhere near the quality of the high caliber shows you listed.

BUT, I'll probably keep watching until they truly jump the shark...uhhh... skitter. ;)

Why did the space monsters build the inside of their spaceship to look like a dungeon? You'd think they'd put a little more emphasis on comfort, pleasantness, and efficiency.:confused::confused:

Last night I thought we might actually be shed of that awful, awful, Captain Scenerychewer, but it looks like he will pull through. Sigh. I liked "Jimmy" better.

Overall, this season seems to be a slight, slight improvement over Season One, but the whole mess is still pretty dismal and silly. And the acting is of afternoon soap opera caliber--if that. I've actually seen better "acting" on Judge Judy.

You actually thought Captain Scenerychewer was going to be "offed"???

I didn't think they'd let hom go so easily......

What do you want in a military leader -- Westpoint Grad?

This is supposed to be a ragtag militia type organization -- not the Green Berets.;-)

They'll be lucky to survive, say NOTHING about winning.

BTW...if they win ........... the series is over.

Ok, aside from the problems inherent in keeping the skitter rebels concealed from their telepathic masters, it looks like Ben is taking a mole directly to one of the rebellion's leaders.

Or is he playing a double game... ?

The head scratcher last week was the high fives when the power got restored to the hospital.

Nothing like bunking down in the only big illuminated building around; particularly when your adversaries control the airspace and ... spacespace.

But if the aliens are telepathic why worry about lit buildings that glow in the dark? Just mind meld with the harnesses and home in on the signal .......

Yeah, there are a LOT of WTF?'s in this show. The premise is great, and it could be sooo much better. Snake hit it on the head with his "soap opera acting" comment. And it's not just the acting. They try to squeeze way too much interpersonal drama into what should be a 42 minute sci-fi/action show.

Even The Walking Dead slowed down for a while dealing with all the touchy feely crap. Fans were complaining that they wanted more zombies! The last 3 or 4 episodes delivered.

I'll still watch it, just because there's not much else on. The wife DVR's True Blood which comes on at the same time, and ain't my favorite show (lotta naked women, though - that's a plus). But I sure wish they'd hire some new producers/writers/directors and turn this show into what it could be.

Breaking Bad is back. I didn't get the word and missed Sunday's season premiere--will have to try to remember to tape the rerun at 12:30 tomorrow night. If I forget, I'll have to wait till it shows up on on-demand on Sunday or Monday.
