Howdy everyone:birthday:
Today is George Washington's birthday! Father of our country. His contributions and influences, let alone his sacrifices for our Republic are immeasurable.
George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and James Monroe. Truly citizens to emulate for the multitudes to follow...
"The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that's good"
-- George Washington
Often we bandy about the term Founding Fathers, but did you realize that the other Founders referred to George Washington as our Founding Father?
Today we "tip our hats" in Salute! to a man that was tall for his era, yet taller in stature for his wisdom, perseverance and guidance to a fledgling nation.
Here is his warning for us as that young nation in his farewell address:
"At this auspicious period, the United States came into existence as a Nation, and if their Citizens should not be completely free and happy, the fault will be entirely their own."
As we remember his influence in our Founding on this most auspicious day-remember his wise words to us (the future so many have also fought and died for) :
"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action."
Salute!
