I just read an interesting book called Giant Killer. It's about a man named Richard Flattery who at 4 foot 7 inches was the smallest man to serve in the us military, not only did he serve he was an officer in the101st Airborne and later in Special Forces.
In the book "The Devils In Baggy Pant's" the author describes a tiny paratrooper who was killed in action.
They had to make him special order size 5 jump boots.
This reminds me of an account I read of Special Forces going to the quartermaster to be issued new boots.
This HUGE 6 foot 7 inch trooper stepped up to the counter and the quartermaster asked what size he needed.
The soldier said, "Size 6".
The quartermaster looked over the counter at his feet and asked........
"Do you fall over a lot"?
In the book they talk about strapping machine gun barrels to this guy when he makes his first jump because they were afraid he would be blown from the DZ.
