Gun lube costing lives in IRAQ??

Gee CLP worked fine for me during Desert Holiday 1... that is if properly used.

Clean gun (daily)
Lub as normal
Wipe off Bolt, Bolt carrier, Receiver ~ barrel, Slide & Frame rails
Lub wear areas veeeeerrrrrrryyyyy spareingly.

Like the article said - maintance problem.

Sure there are better lubs (i.e. dry lubs) but CLP will also work just fine, if used properly for the environment.

Militech's name keeps coming up in conjunction with these reports of inadequate lubrication.
I've heard many reports that mirror Schmit's... CLP must be used sparingly, but it works. I think some people have gotten the impression that a wet bolt is a happy bolt. That may be true at Ft. Benning, but I don't think it's true in the sandbox.

Miltech has been shamelessly pushing their product and blaming poor cleaning and excessive lube on CLP. Then there's the M16's early history of jamming in combat due to poor ammo.

While there are a few things (one comes readilly to mind) that are happy when wet, bolts and firearms are not one of them.

I guess most people associate lubing a firearms with lubing a car - add quarts of oil and squeeze in grease until it gushes out. Nope, gun lube should be used just like expensive perfume... a little dab here, a little dab there in just all the right places.
