Friends,

Today 02MAR18 is INDEPENDENCE DAY here in Texas & it's been 182 years since a group of men met in an unfinished building at a "postage stamp sized hamlet" called Washington on the Brazos to declare that TEXAS is now & forevermore FREE from Mexico.

Traditional TEXICANS meet each March the 2nd to break bread with each other & remember/celebrate the memory of those BRAVE men who declared our independence & those who served/died for Texas during our revolution.

SW,

If my grasp of history serves me right, they called themselves Texians. Before the break down in relations, most Texans called themselves Texicans. But when it all fell apart and people started picking up arms, they changed it to Texians, because Texican sounded too much like Mexican.

DunGeek,

Actually TEXICAN was the spelling that the RoT Congress approved because, "- - - - it rhymes with more words."
(Other than LEXICON & MEXICAN, can you think of any such words??)

csmkersh,

Are you going to the DAWN CEREMONY at The Shrine on the 6th??
(I cannot, this year, because I'm tied up with election judge duties that day from 0500 until well after 1900.)
