Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Barbara decided, and I happily concurred as I don't like turkey, we're having roasted chicken and stuffing/dressing instead. Not a family gathering for us as we are too spread out across the country.

Quiet day of Honeybaked carry-out and Back to the Future reruns with my aunt while getting the parts together to build my AR.

Annoying morning with Mom, though, since she had to tune in a marathon of those detestable Chrisleys... one thing to be thankful for, I don't have to deal with the Mouth from the South and his brood in-the-flesh.

Now to work the numbers and get an AFE to buy my upper and some upgrade-parts before the sales expire Monday... life gets *real* fun when all of your assets are tied up in a trust-fund that you have to say "Mother May I" before you can go buy frickin' *toilet paper*...

To ALL,

This afternoon, America's Team, the Dallas Cowboys, beat "the Deadskins", 31 to 26 = A GREAT after "far too much" turkey & dressing, pie, etc. dinner

This is also the first time that The Cowboys has ever won 10 games in a row.

Life is GOOD.

yours, sw

A day late and a dollar short, but I do plead a very busy day and an overdose of triptophan. I sincerely hope everyone had as nice a holiday as we did.

Last night of turkey and associated sides.

Tomorrow I'm having a burger at the pool hall.

Fought a small brushfire up on the mountain earlier.

We slowed it down until the pros got there but I'm out of halon.

We've had an burn ban here for a while now. It is basically state wide. Some smokey days due to fires in neighboring counties and states.

They are predicting what they are calling significant rainfall in the coming week. Hope they're right. Our acerage is surrounded on 3 sides by trees. It just takes one idiot to toss a lit cigarette out of a car...

It would be nice if we got a light to medium rain over a good period of time rather than a deluge which would just run off the dried hard soil and cause flooding problems.

Might be interesting to share what we all had to be thankful for this holiday... I'll go first. :)

I grew up during the tail end of the Depression and WWII. I never missed a meal. Things were tight during the war. Mom saved bacon grease and turned it in at the butchers for some ration stamps as she was supposed to do. We used Eagle Brand condensed milk to sweeten "coffee" which was often nothing more than hot water. Oleo came in plastic bags and was white until you mixed the coloring through it.

My kids have no idea what hard times could be like and back then I didn't realize we were poor. Just ate a lot of beans and cornbread.

Beans, greens and cornbread is still one of my favorite meals.

We've and times we were flush and times that were lean, but always a roof over our heads and food in our bellies. Our kids might not have gotten everything they wanted, but they had all that they needed, and then some.

Our grandchildren are just a wee bit spoiled.

Everyone is healthy, and we spent Thanksgiving around the same table.

Just doesn't get any better.

Although I can't Honestly state that I've never had to worry, but my parents ensured that I never had to do without, but I am thankful that those that came after me shall never be concerned with what they truly needed being of any concern, yet I still must confess that it was my Parents that provided for me and those that came after me.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving, I spent it with the folks that make me the happiest. (they call me Grandpa)
