Folks,
Has anyone reported a Gun Buyback program to the BATFE as illegal gun dealing?
Sheer numbers would make it illegal, even in states with a direct sale law. Everyone involved would be engaging in conspiracy.

As has been mulled over before, it is also the best way to get rid of a crime gun, scratched number is no problem, and if you have a piece that was used in a crime and can be traced, it goes in with the rest.

I dimly recall an ad once that showed a Brown Bess with the caption that it was an assault rifle in 1776. I'd always wondered why the NRA didn't beat that into the ground to try to make the point.

I've pondered by back programs as sort of a flea market. Stroll the line and offer more $ for the good stuff. On the other hand, buying a piece and discovering later that it'd been used in several shootings would be really expensive.

Tangentially related.

I got a laugh out of it.
