Hi Everyone,

I was looking at my Winchester brand 7.62 NATO ammo and noticed that the case mouth crimps varied from looking deep and well done to looking like there was none at all, as well as everywhere in between. I am just checking to see if this is normal for military ammo. Any experience that you can share is much appreciated.

The crimp is pretty much the same, what's different is the neck thickness.

Yes I have seen the variations you describe but the thing to remember is it passed bullet pull requirements of the NATO STANAG so there should be no problem.

Crimping was done for belt feed guns, not needed for M14 design.
