I have never shot a USC but would really like to own one but just couldn't afford one. I said the same thing about the HK 94's back in the early 90's and never purchased one. Now I wish I had purchased a truckload because they are going for $4k and up! Back in the late 80's and early 90's they were readily available for less that $1k.
I agree that the color scheme, funky thumb hole stock and low magazine capacity are not its most endearing qualities but help is on the way. There are several companies which are making a UMP style folding stocks and lowers which allow for the use of readily available greasegun mags. Prior to the AWB I felt a 10 round rifle was about as useless as a .50 Cal. handgun. Now with the ban lifted a USC makes a very nice sub-rifle. I still wouldn't mind having one for the right price.
