What do you guys think of Hoppe's Tornado brushes? Are they gentle enough to be used in place of a brass brush for cleaning? The spiral design doesn't have any ends or points to scratch the barrel, but it's still steel.

I've tried one in a couple rifles and they seem very effective in knocking out the fouling. I'm just worried about wearing the bore down.

if they are a SS brush they will scratch a barrel

I think the Tornado brushes are at their best in a shotgun, which is what they were invented for.

the tornado will not scratch as there are no sharp edges, but they will not do much if anything for the grooves, and they may wear down the sharp corners of the lands.

I tried them years ago, but have no use for them.
