I don't recall what program it was on, but there was a segment showing an attempt to do a 1 mile shot. Despite having a skilled sniper behind the gun and another spotting, in several attempts, they got real close once and had no clue where the other rounds went. Now, atmospheric conditions (mirage, wind etc.) had a major effect. You could see the mirage on the TV. Would be a big help if clear, limited mirage etc.

No idea what rounds were in use on the attempt above, just don't remember.

In all honesty, skill heck! That was Allah showing his displeasure with ISIS/ISIL/Daesh.

Luck playing a large part, it still seems Western snipers seem to be awfully lucky, fairly often.

I'm wondering how many are using the new still largely secret laser-computer shooting technology that greatly increases the probability of a hit.
