One More Contact To Your Congressman And Senator May Help

If I understand correctly, although the amendment (to extend the ban) passed it was ineffective because the main bill to which it was attached failed.

That means it may come up for a vote in the Senate again - soon.

Congress returns to session on September 7th. The Assault Weapons Ban "sunsets" on September 14th. Between those two dates the gun-banning people will push hard to renew the ban.

It is important to contact your representative in the House and both of your Senators and to tell them how you feel about renewing the ban. Tell them that their vote on this bill will affect your vote in November!

A note of encouragement to House Speaker Dennis Hastert would be helpful too. He has said he will resist attempts to bring renewal of the ban to a vote in the House.

You can identify your representative and your senators at the Thomas website: http://thomas.loc.gov and send them e-mail messages.

The 2 Distinguished Gentlemen from Missouri (Bond and Talent) voted with us, and hopefully will continue to do so.

The two rotten DemocRATS that represent WV have always voted against anything gun related. As an effort in futility, I still call them to voice my opinion as a constituant. Rockefeller never responds, but Ole Senator TURD always sends a letter that makes me feel like I had just received a handjob from an 80 year old man (When the bill you called about comes up for a vote, I will take into consideration your opinion when I place my vote--- HAH!!!!)
Funny how Rockefeller keep shis own Preban AR-15 with all the evil features on it - but he doesn't want you to have one.
He truly is a hypocritical bastard.
I can't believe Byrd is still alive let alone in office.
I've always though that Carl Levin looked alot like a "founding father".The ding-a-ling never acts like it though.Mi = controlled by Detriot labor unions( :barf: ).
What really sucks is that there are alot of Conservatives in eastern Mi.They are all overshadowed by the unions though.

You're 100% correct. Senator Fineswine's SenAmmdt 2637 passed with the help of the Republicans. The amendment would have extended the ban 10 more years and triple the number of firearms banned including X15 Bushmasters. As it was, it was a win for the anti-gun nuts; they successfully killed a cinch to pass bill that would have prevented "product liability" suits against gun makers for the actins of third parties after the firearm had been sold through legal channels.
