SpecialEd; Thats a wery good question, and i cant answer. It is more correct to say one of my favorit of the ones i got. I dont have many different german pistols, Luger is my top gun but there is something about the HSc, and i just enjoy to shoot it.
I think that i am a little bit unstable, one evening the PP is my favorit, another evening its my PPK, and suddenly its my P.38 or the HSc

FYI, I knew a Condor Legion pilot (Colonel) in 1970 who said, "If you wanted a badge of office you wore a P08. If you wanted a real & useful pistol you aquired and carried a PPK."
Fwiw, I agree. The PP & the PPK are NICE.

Remember the time and location. They were foreign pilots in the middle of a civil war. The PPK and PP could be easily carried at all times, even pocketed.

Who notes the Warsaw Pact officer corps loved the Makarov and other constant carry variants.

GOOD POINT. - A German officer in Spain would have been REALLY unpopular with the Republic-leaning forces/people, as the "republic folk" were at best socialists & at worst committed communists.

FYI, my beloved/adult daughter now would agree with the Warsaw Pact officers, as she has and is never without my little MAK. - She (and she is VERY "girly") says it's "just right for my pocket".
(When she decided that she needed a pistol due to coming/going from the campus at all hours, she didn't want "a pistol"; she wanted "daddy's pistol", so I gave it to her and bought a Sig P6.)
