I've always laughed a lot at conspiricy theorists. I might have to reconsider that, very occasionally, they may have a point.

Right now we have the fuss over the repatriation of Bergdahl, who's either a POW or deserter, depending upon who you ask. Pelosi is enthusing about recovering someone 'captured on the battlefield". Meanwhile while the MSM clamor over this, the DOS-according to ME sources-is quietly recognizing Hamas and about to do the same with Hezbollah. They're at least doing face to face business. :eek:mg:

Perhaps the real question here is, how long is it going to take-or can we- to recover from what our current POTUS is doing to us?

It took a Carter to get us a Reagan...

But I'll be the first to admit I'm cup half full kind of guy.
I used to be too, Walt. I remember a post I made a few years ago saying, in effect, don't worry...we'll get through this. Now...:dunno::sad:

I see absolutely no value in trying to establish "diplomatic relations" with Islamic Fundamentalist group or organization...or state. They have made their intentions for this country quite plain. To not take them seriously is moronic.

I wonder if Barack Obama will be seen as this century's Neville Chamberlain?

Whether we like it or not, the Palestinians have chose Hamas and Hezbollah as their leadership. Not recognizing them because we don't like their politics is a childish game if you ask me. We didn't like the USSR's politics, but we had to recognize them. I personally like that we recognize them, that means when they act like idiots, they now get treated as an idiot nation, rather than everyone saying, "oh, it was just a few rogues who just happened to have high grade military equipment". Now the GOVERNMENTS have to answer for it.

I'm as Pro-Israel as they get, but the settlements are just throwing fuel on the fire. I understand why they're doing them, but at some point things are going to seriously blow up there. They have a serious population problem both in the Palestinian territories and in Israel. Just have too many people crammed into too small of a place.

As for Bergdahl, he's innocent until proven guilty. It's good that they got him back, but the price was probably too high. My bet is Obama will be dumb enough to put the brakes on a Courts Martial, which will further infuriate the right and deeply offend those who served with honor. Bergdahl deserves his day in court. There's a good deal of ugly evidence against him, but I have seen some evidence that could be turned into reasonable doubt by a slick attorney. So Bergdahl could come out of this smelling like a rose if he wins in court; because then he can write a book and do all the talk shows. Obama will still come out with a severely stubbed toe though.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave
When first we practise to deceive!
I'm glad that Bergdahl is free and feel that the evidence suggests that he should answer for his actions through the UCMJ.

I'm somewhat surprised at the arrogance or ignorance (take you pick) shown by the Administration in its handling of this including the Rose Garden appearance with the parents of a suspected deserter. President Obama attempted to spike the ball and it has blown up in his face.

It's not the politics of the terrorist groups, it's their actions. If they want to be treated as grownups, they need to act like grownups. That is: stop butchering people and realize that Israel is there to stay.

I'm kind of curious as to the motivation of some of the MSM. Are they just realizing that POTUS violated several laws in this instance and starting to worry about what other laws he might be willing to overlook?

I agree, they need to act like grown ups. But seriously, they have come quite a ways, but have a long way to go. The attacks have been on a steady decline for the past decade, but the need to just stop. They need to recognize Israel is here to stay, and start working on their own problems. But they won't, and Israel won't back up an inch and eventually it will all just blow up into a really ugly war. I just don't see any solutions in the Middle East when neither party is willing to compromise. I can't quite blame Israel, the Palestinians won't even recognize the Israeli government has a right to exist.

Ah, but one of the root problems is that the various Arab governments cynically refused to assimilate the folks who ended up on their soil. They established the refugee camps and fostered the resentment and apartness for their own political benefit and as pressure groups. They never expected to still be hosting their "guests" 60 years later.

Kinda hard to reverse 60 years of conditioning-excuse me-cultural expectations.
