I haven't seen the movie yet but the kid's girlfriend let me borrow the books--there are three of them, a trilogy. I've read the first two and am halfway through the third. Have to say I'm impressed. Very good, interesting, and accessible example of the dystopia sci-fi genre. Obviously written for young readers (high school age, I imagine, maybe even younger) and it should get them thinking and talking about things. I think these books will stand the test of time and take their place on the shelf along with Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, The Lottery, The Most Dangerous Game, and a number of other great works of this kind.
Looking forward to seeing the movie. I've seen the previews and it looks very true to the book--had no trouble at all following the action in the previews after reading the book.
