I bought a Taurus PT22 Ply, it was on sale and the wife loved it from the moment I popped up the barrel.

She almost immediately learned about off hand small pistol slide bite, a lesson I was taught by a Walther PPK/s many moons agone.

She also exercised her new 1st Aid Kit.

Lessons learned not covered above.
1. load and lock the barrel before inserting the magazine.
2. The mini-Uplula loader is your friend.

3. The gun does not like limp wristing.
4. Magazines are back ordered from Taurus in Miami by phone. "To order, call our Customer Service Department at 305.624.1115" A lady named Alexandra gave excellent phone. $22 each and shipping across the state around $10.
5. No hyper-velocity rounds, per note on Box.
6. It did feed and fire multiple kinds of ammo, mostly Mini-mags, some left over Thunderbolt I found, Aquila solids, and some odd ammo, solid and HP, I found in an unmarked CCI box of dubious age.
My wife kept all her rounds on a half size silhouette at 7 yards. We went through about 150 rounds. I intend to finish the basic 200 break in today, as soon as I sort through the ammo boxes for some Winchester.

Additional note, the price from Shooters of Jacksonville, FL was $184.99 down from $249.99. Plus tax and $5 for background check. No waiting period for a CCW license.

Who notes the wife just dragged him out new car shopping, this may be the most expensive pistol I ever looked at.

A brief side note as a public service. Ruger MK II magazines are available from CDNN. They are difficult to find.
Note they use the same ammunition as the above mentioned firearm in a somewhat larger package.

Mmmmm...you buy a pistol, and the wife drags you car shopping.

Sounds like a day at my house. ;) :D

Bought both my daughters the Taurus PT22 about 6 or 7 years ago. They are pretty nice little guns.

Now they have graduated to a Colt DS and a Smith Bodyguard. They like bigger bullets. :)

That is a nice pistol, Geoff. And a heckuva price, too. Enjoy!

Think you'll be happy with your Nissan. Shortly after my accident, we bought a Nissan van to make moving me around easier. It was a very nice vehicle.

Enjoy!

Nissan reliability has been suffering lately, but the car we bought is check rated by Consumers Union, who publish Consumer Reports (AKA the Yuppie Scum Bible.)

I have found their car reports accurate, often to my dismay after the fact.

Follow-up: due to many things including my Wife's surgery for Trigger Finger, which is not nearly as much fun as it sounds, I haven't completed the testing on the pistol.

I note the Nissan has two glove boxes, like the Honda Fit, I suspect the Velcro (TM) pad will go in the top one.

On a heavier note, I am retiring from a "major North American Department of Defense" on or about the last day of the year. I suspect I may have more time to post, and more time at my friendly neighborhood Range attac-fl.com to post about.

I'm kinda wondering why Terrry said the Nissan van was a very nice ride? Get rid of it as a celabratory gesture upon healing?

I bought my first new vehicle in decades in mid-2013. While I like it, the degree that computers control everything is worrisome. As an example of our brave new world, the dealer has to do wheel alignment. The steering rack has to stay centered within certain limits so the/a computer can accurately tell the difference between where I want the car to go and where it's actually going. If the difference exceeds parameters, the rear brakes are selectively applied to correct.

If this is sounding all warm and fuzzy, there are drawbacks. I had the back end kick out this past winter and the car corrected before I could. The drawback being that the back end now kicked way out the other way. I caught that one before the computer could put me in the ditch. However, the traction control is great!

Nice writeup, congratulations on making it to retirement.

I'm pulling the plug in late July. Contemplating the things that need done, I may have to find another job so I can get some rest. I expect my dog to be ecstatic.

I quit reading the Yuppie Bible quite awhile ago. Their political views greatly intruded upon the content of the product reviews. I am, however, willing to throw them a few bucks on car pricing reports and the car review books. I also note the political content has greatly diminished.

Pretty close, Mr. Moore. I had got to the point where I could get around a lot better, didn't require a lift to carry a powered chair around every where we went. And the wife hated driving a big ol' van. (We had a minivan after our two grand children where born less than a year apart, pretty much by necessity). After thay got to toddler stage, the wife wanted a car - didn't like vans - so we got a Toyota Matrix. A few years later I had my accident, so there came the Nissan. When it was plausible, I sent her car shopping for what she wanted. She picked a Kia Optima Hybrid, which has been a very good car. But when those $800 batteries run out of warranty...:eek:mg:

Geoff, hope the wife's recovery is quick and painless. And enjoy your retirement. I'll be right behind you in about 4 years or so...Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

Follow on note: PT22 Taurus magazines are available from Natchezz.

Taurus 8-Round PT-22 .22LR Magazine | Natchez Shooters Supplies

I haven't heard from Taurus about my outstanding order.

I bought two for my wife's Christmas presents along with ammo. Mini-uplula loaders were in short supply...I'm buying two more in assorted colors when available.

On a side note, the wife's seat did not agree with the Nissan. We now have two Subaru Outback "They Lived" station wagons in the family.

...it will be with an "Alaska Cadillac," as Subarus are known in some quarters. In the 12 years that I've lived in Arizona's White Mountains (my house is approximately 6,400 feet above sea level and there are still a few traces of snow on the ground as I type this), I've noticed a steady proliferation of them in these parts.

Florida still has some sand roads on the map and Garman doesn't care. I had a heck of a time driving one in the old Crown Vic. I took the new Subaru down the same road and I'll swear Electric Geisha just giggled as she took it like it was I-95...

I'm in the market for a new car and am leaning towards the Mazda CX-5. I've also heard great things about the Outback.
So, Outback fans, give me your best shot.
Truly it is written, Subaru owners are the best sales people.
But, drive them both, pay attention to the seating. Mazda had a reputation for Ford style seats which disagreed with people who needed more back support. I've had trouble in some seats after 2 hours, especially Chevy/GMC.

My wife has the Outback's ugly sister, the Forester and loves it. The Outback was on my short list when I bought the Jeep a couple of years ago. The Jeep won out because I wanted more ground clearance and interior room than the Subaru offered. Work occasionally takes me to some remote pipeline sites in inconvenient weather.

I seem to recall reading about some probs with the Subaru's 2.5L engine during my research so you might to google that.

Back on topic I got a call from Taurus on my outstanding magazine order, still waiting.
The magazines I got from Natchez were Taurus marked, but were for the metal framed version. I could not insert .22LR into the feed lips, too close together. I have expanded them and will try them along with the Taurus direct magazines after tax season when the wife can go to the range.
