But I finally was overcome by a real bad case of "Oh my! I really want that." Went into my flgs to check over a new shipment of powder. Was able to grab a pound of HS 6. The guys who work there know me, and asked if I wanted to see a used Smith revolver they just got in.

Well...sure. Why not?

They had a model 14-6, 6" barrel, full under lug, adjustable sights, rubber Hogue grips. Has the "new" style thumb latch, a very, very nice polish job and nice bluing. The trigger pull feels like it has had some work. Very smooth. It was also very light until I took off the grips and tightened the mainspring screw. Trigger is still smooth, but I have no doubt it will ignite any primer that happens to challenge it.

Serial number dates it to around 1997, but a really, really pretty revolver. It was priced at $375. Just couldn't
Turn it down. Here's hoping I get to shoot it a little this weekend.

With me it's guns shows .....
Miroku-made Winchester 1892 deluxe take-down on .32-20....
1901 made Colt Lightening (model 1877) in .38 Colt.....
Beretta Stampede SAA clone in .44-40 ......
and those are only my most recent "gun show" acquisitions.

Sounds like you found a nice gun; let us know how well it shoots!;)

S&W is not a make that I am very familiar with ....but I do happen to have 1 S&W revolver. A classic model 1 1/2 in .32 rimfire. I got it lettered from S&W and turns out my gun was sold on December 9, 1869 at a New York City store called M. W. Robinson, said to be S&W's largest distributor at the time.
It's a small 5 shot SA with bird's head grips and is a break open with the hinge on top of the frame in front of the cylinder, which removes from the frame for loading. I've never fired it as I don't know where to get rimfire .32 but IMHO it is not in good enough shape to be trustworthy, though the mechanism still works.

Oh....uh, and I got it at a gunshow back in 2007.

Best of luck with your new firearm there!

It sounds like a really nice gun Terry,. I've always liked Smith revolvers. Having said that here is a pic of my latest purchase, Colt 1908, .380. It hasn't seen much use.

Mind if I ask what you paid for the Colt? I inherited a 1903 .32ACP and wondering what its value might be.

I'm second owner. It was bought by a doctor relative who made house calls at night.

Now to answer some questions...Mike, yep, it is a round butt. It has a color case trigger and hammer, the hammer having the firing pin attached.

Tommy, you've done well at gun shows. I usually end up going to them when I have no money to spend, so my "luck" hasn't been so good.:D

I LOVE your little S&W. I passed on one almost like that about a decade ago that I still kick myself for not buying. I do have an old Colt Police Positive from 1909 and a Iver Johnson break top "Hammer the Hammer" both in .32 that aren't worth anything but are kinda neat.

Kevin, the price and condition are what sold me. It has one of the best polish jobs I've seen on a S&W in years. Hope she shoots as good as she looks.

That is a gorgeous little pistol, Bearcat. I'd love to come across one of those in that kind of shape.:thumbsup:

The prices on these are getting to be out of sight. The .380s bring more than the 32s. I paid 1600.00 for the 380 I also bought this 32 with real ivory for 1300.00. I figure I can't take it with me and I'm not buying to re-sell.

Speaking of neat little pocket iron, why oh why couldn't they have made the new Faux Model M to the specs of the original? And made it a regular offering rather than a limited Collector Only?

Adding this to their long cumulative history of bonehead business mistakes, I think the next bankruptcy--and there WILL be another--the Court needs to appoint a firm actually COMPETENT at building guns that sell and make a return as receiver/trustee to guide them through restructuring.

Then again, maybe not... as long as any of the old management and the UAW remain, they'll undo it all as soon as they're out from under trustee control anyway. Hell, WE could probably run Colt better than Colt...

No, MD with a GP practice back in the 1920s through early 1950s. San Antonio was a rough town then. A lot of the Mexican politics and revolutions plotted here. Being Anglo wasn't always safe at night even for a doctor.
