This girl was waiting under the tree for me on Christmas morning:

To make matters even better, I just found an 8 pound jug of unobtainium, aka Hodgdon H4350, at Cabella's, and some gift cards I had brought the price down from "outrageous" to merely "highway robbery".

That's a really nice hassock.

BTW, what's the ornament on top of it?

It's in 6.5 Creedmoor. There's a thousand-yard range down in Laurens, SC that I eventually want to try and conquer, but I'm a newbie at the long range game.

(For everyone who took a quick look and thought "Ho-hum, another AR" it's actually a bolt gun, the Ruger Precision Rifle. I shoulda photographed the other side.)

MAN!!! I have NEVER been that good a boy. Well played Cap'n.

That will be a hoot on a 1,000 yard range.

Try the distance with a .45-90 like Billy Dixon did.
I actually take the .45-70 out to three hundred on basketball-sized steel targets. Even though I've got a modern 1885 High Wall I only load to the trapdoor max. The softer load thumps me enough as it is...I can only imagine what a max load in .45-90 would feel like.

I guess if the rifle weighed about sixteen pounds and was turret-mounted it wouldn't be too bad.
