Incoming French Service Pistols?

I have to wonder if Surplus French Service Pistols are inbound to U.S. shores. The French have just adopted a new service handgun, so maybe some arsenals will get cleared out. Selling surplus pistols and rifles to the U.S. Market has always been an option for European governments.

They're currently using Beretta 92's. I'll bet Beretta is going to do whatever they can to keep those from coming to the US.
DavidE,

Unless they disposed of them elsewhere, the French have a LOT of FN of Belgium BHP & "1st Model" Beretta 92S pistols, as well as Model 10 S&W.

I'd buy another pair of BHP if I could.

Didn't they also have some Smith 547s--9mm?

Snake45,

I just don't know that answer. = SORRY.

Before someone else says it...

"Only dropped once..."
Snake,

I recall a shipment of 547's in the '80's...that is if I'm recalling ANYTHING these days.

So all in all, it would be VERY nice to dance through French armories.
I was just about to ask what's an average number of drops on used French handguns?

IIRC, and the source was good, the French S&W's had a manual safety.
William R. Moore,

THANKS for the info.

It may have been a subtle safety. Someone here in the US figured out that if you moved the thumb piece very slightly forward, the bolt would block the hammer. With a wee bit of machine work, the back of thumb piece could move upward into a notch and act as a safety. Wiping the thumb piece back to normal position would move it off safe. Per my source, a patent was issued on the system.
