About 5:20 PM Eastern Time, Iran launched + - 30 cruise or SRBM ballistic missiles from various point into Iraq, striking airbase used by American forces. No word of casualties, or if the weapons were aimed at infrastructure or manned points. Also unknown is the exact number of missiles.
Iran has opened the door to hell .... will President Trump accept the invitation?

I don't think this will go unanswered.

Edit: update; Defense Dept. says TWELVE missiles were launched.

TommyGunn,

The lunatic clerics of Iran had better be GLAD that I'm not the POTUS, as they would be about to lose their only major oil refinery & all of their naval vessels to drones/cruise missiles.

THEN I would think on what to remove NEXT. = We can afford to play their silly game forever until their economy is a smoking pile of junk.

yours, sw

Am I the only one who feels like we're living in a Tom Clancy novel, specifically Executive Orders?

I say President Trump should just flip ahead straight to the Ryan Doctrine at the end... :)

Since the mullahs used their less accurate ballistic stuff rather than their cruise missiles I suspect this was more about "fire for effect" for domestic consumption.

As the grandfather of a kid in her third day of boot I'm not rooting for another Gulf War.

Walt, we understand but the "pros" may be thinking, "What the Hell, better than no war," and now they could play with their toys.

O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, go away";
But it's "Thank you, Mister Atkins", when the band begins to play...

I'm here to stay!!:neer: ....
...and the place wouldn't be the same without you, Tommy.

I'm kinda like Walt in that I'm in no hurry for an all out middle east war. Not that I have any grandkids in the military, but I have two that will be old enough to join up in a year or two (respectively). A ground war there won't be easy. Not unwinnable, but it will be costly.

I think the President just confirmed what we (most of us, anyway) figured out about him, though. He doesn't ponder hard and heavy over a decision. He looks at the situation as presented along with the available options and goes with it.

From what I read about the Bin Laden Op, The White House dragged their feet for quite awhile before they finally decided to go with it.

Indecisiveness can be a killer.

Version I read was that between Biden and Valerie Jarrett, one or the other always spiked it and it finally got pushed through by Panetta getting the chance to make an Executive Decision when VJ's comms were offline. Don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Panetta, he's a typical Clinton Crime family weasel but that time his weaselly tricks helped the country rather than hurt it for once.

Hillary had chased bin Laudin down, tried to get Obama to sign on but his Chicago toads stood in the way thinking the publicity would hurt. She got fed up and lied when she gave the Seals the green light. If ya'll remember, they had to haul Big O in from the golf course and he looked decidedly POed while she seemed to be laughing behind her hand.

It's been almost 50 years, but I don't recall the SoS being in the chain of command.

I keep meaning to find a copy of "I had bin Laden in my signts and the (weasels) wouldn't let me fire".
