I finally took the little carbine that Jerry Kuhnhausen built on a Springfield Armory receiver out to lunch today. The girl wears an M2 pot belly stock(it looks fat) and has the rounded bolt. The first ten rounds at 50yrds I couldn't tell what I was doing so I put her up and started working on the G43 for abit then on to the M1a.I was about to call the event to a close but looked at the carbine again and said WTH it's time to eat some more. The target now is at 100yds but I am not interested in the target but the bur behind it.I started shooting at some plants and noticed 16-20" high and 10"R made the adjustments and if that plant was an animal of sorts I filled it up.It shoots better than the Inland methinks but paper will bear that out but then the Inland has been used.My only quandrum is the rifle still looks like nothing has been fired I'm kinda like I don't want to wear her out.I don't know I like having her looking new not ridden have the providence paper work that he built is there really any extra value :dunno:

There is nothing even remotely rare about an M1 Carbine; even one of Jerry's. Shoot the snot out of it. If you wear it out, rebuild it and repeat!!! That's what was intended when they built it...Honor the intent!!!

I'm in then guys like I said it seems accurate I could hit a bolling pin all day methinks.I will do the paper test Thursday.I have a question if someone knows my SA M1a needs a rebarrel ya'll ever heard SA considering that part of the warranty? She's at the 4-5k mark now.I can take the Ruger Scout and hit a 3" orange circle 3/5 shots @100yds open sights but the M1a it's like maybe 3/10.If not I might go a little heavier barrel though a standard lasted me 24yrs,maybe a standard ;) Kevin

I check SA's warranty makes sense defects only.Thinking of this ...

BARREL, MEDIUM WEIGHT STAINLESS STEEL: 22" length, DMR contour, 1-11 twist, short chambered. M14 / M1A. Made in USA for LRB by Criterion.....$279.95

Before you decide on stainless as barrel material, you might want to go to Boots Obermyers (sp?) website and read his comparison of chrome-moly vs stainless. Really briefly, CM seems to wear predictably and stainless can decide to just go bad given certain conditions.

With a short chamber, you're either looking at someone having pull through reamers or removing/ream/reinstall/check several times.
