IrishCop,

The mayor better be glad that I don't set the policy for US gun-makers, as I would tell him: "It is now the policy of US gun companies to deny access to our products to leftist morons, at any price. IF/WHEN you change your city's policy to conform to citizen's NATURAL RIGHTS, you may ask us again."

yours, sw

Amen, SW.

Problem is, then they'd turn to the REAL Merchants of Death: FN-Herstal (the Belgian parent, not the American subsidiary) and Heckler und Koch ("Because you SUCK, und ve hate ze idea of Mere Pissant Proles vith veaponry!"), both of whom IIRC are right up there with the ChiComs for selling to any despot, tyrant and Third World thug with cold hard cash.

LOL! So true. Interesting the people for "Small Arms treaties" and such don't say much about the non-us makers of military arms who regularly flood combat zones, the armories of various groups in Africa, places under UN embargoes, etc. etc.

After the rampant corruption of oil for food program in Iraq the UN hasn't got much business moralizing about getting involved in the regulation of selling commodities, anyway.

It is interesting, though, would the US cities go to foreign makers to take a swipe at US industries?

Dear Mayor:

The overwhelming majority of gun crime in the US occurs in a tiny handful of zip codes. Your city is one such area.

Your citizens' toleration of a criminal subculture, and your administration's unwillingness to eradicate this criminal element, perpetuate this deplorable state of affairs. Furthermore, your complicity in disarming honest citizens, thereby ensuring that the predatory members of your community are provided with an endless supply of defenseless victims, makes you a collaborator in their predations.

This state of affairs indicates that you and your officers may not be the best candidates for our products. Kindly inform us when your city returns to the norms of civility which are observed in the rest of our great nation, that we may once again add you to our list of valued customers.

Sincerely,
Major Gun Manufacturer

Yeah, Shep. Said he wouldn't sell to their LEO Agencies if they prohibited civilian ownership.

But I wonder if that restriction applies to distributors? I mean, the manufacturer sells to distributors, and they sell to other businesses etc, right? And the manufacturer has no way of knowing just who they do business with (I would guess). So does Barrett's stand on the issue have any real effect? Or is all of his business customer direct?

While Ronnie Barretts stand is heart warming, you'll also notice he developed the .416 Barrett. Which, just happens to evade Kalifornistans ruling on .50s.
